Cooper Casale’s first album ‘Oconee Hill Cemetery’ sought to pull drone and post-punk together into often difficult, experimental textures. His second album, ‘The Longest Way Round is the Shortest Way Home’ continues that approach with a greater emphasis on crafting great songs out of the mess. Like the album’s namesake, James Joyce’s 1922 novel “Ulysses,” “The Longest Way Round” has its eyes peering backward into the past, as well as forward into something like hope. Out now on The Clap.
