VX – The Unpleasant Archive

Neil Whitehead has been recording since the late 70’s, originally as part of the Wirral based synthpop act Chain of Command, and since 2010, fronting the experimental space rock band VRTX (formally vert:x).
In solo mode, Neil adopts the VX moniker and has released a variety of digital only and short run CDr albums mostly through his own label Heavy Electricity with his most recent album (‘kilo price for dead shapes’) being a collaboration with Sheffield legend Pete Hope (The Box / Kirk & Hope etc).
The Unpleasant Archive see’s Neil using a very minimal arsenal; the BugBrand Weevil, DM1 and Korg Monotron to create an album of extreme noise, repetitive beats and atonal soundscapes reminiscent of early Cabaret Voltaire and Nocturnal Emissions. Out now on Preston Capes.
