‘We Have Come For Light’ by Def Magnetic was handcrafted with love on my MPC X (with a minor assist from my S2400) in standalone mode before being recorded to used cassette tapes on a four-track recorder. These six songs combine a hint of wistful nostalgia, a decent helping of melancholy, a clutch of sweet (in my opinion, at least; YMMV) bass lines, and a sweaty heap of raw-ass drums to make something that I think is pretty cool. If you’re into the same stuff I am—namely gritty, dusty, turn-of-the-century instrumental shit—maybe you will too!
