‘Samskara’ is an almost universal concept across South Asia. In Indian philosophy, samskaras are mental impressions, recollections, or psychological imprints. In Hindu philosopy, samskaras are a basis for the development of karma theory. In Buddhism the Sanskrit term Saṅkhāra is used to describe ‘formations’. In Pali it is referred to as Saṅkhāra.
This collection of instrumentals takes inspiration from across India and South Asia: from traditional India music to Bollywood Disco, from Luk Thung and American influenced Thai Funk. It’s informed by over a decade of digging for obscure funky cuts from Malaysia to Myanmar.
