‘Kindness’ is a trip to the more atmospheric side of Golden Brown. Seven songs built around layering modal improvisations on guitar, lap steel, keyboards, and kalimba, recorded at home from summer 2022 through winter 2023. The initial idea for most of the songs was a minimal sonic palette, either based around a drone or loops. Melodic elements were layered on top with the intent of keeping the music spacious and simple, with a feeling of calm and safety. To me, these songs feel aligned with a cooler color palette, a reflective mood, and things/places/beings connected to water. Out now on Aural Canyon. This tape is sold out.
