Previously released in 2015, ‘Whenere’ is an EP by Shanghai Shoegaze/Dream-Pop unit Forsaken Autumn, within the same year a few Shoegaze compilations movement also released, like ‘VA Revolution: The Shoegaze Revival’, ‘VA Holy Noise – Indonesia Shoegazer’, etc. Taking part as one of the important EPs for the Asian Shoegaze revival scene (until now), ‘Whenere’ is beautifully crafted with a dreamy, fuzzy, and beautiful wall of shimmering noise with melancholy vocals obscuring the sanity.
Formed by Brit Lu and Ecke in Shanghai (2011), Forsaken Autumn describes their sound core as a bluish misty sound and a chilly nihilistic state of mind. Including the hypnotic and misty song ‘Wallow’, which expresses the sadness of the city’s alienated people. ‘Whenere’ has 6 tranquil atmospheric tracks, a stellar structure for an EP.
