This album emerged from a chance encounter at Casa del Popolo in Montreal during the Suoni per il Popolo festival. Over the years Tim and Stefan kept in touch and in 2023 started exchanging more seriously about working on some music together. The conversations and exchanges over the years had revolved around trying to find pathways for collective action in the arts to support movements against war.
Particularly the two discussed and collaborated on a global radio broadcast to critique the military industrial complex’s interest in sustaining war in Ukraine. Also the two had exchanged about the critical importance of artists standing up for Palestine. In this context the two started to share home recordings, mixing percussion, piano and digital editing.
This album emerged over a couple of years of exchanges and calls across the two cities. The title of the album is simple as it was the point of common and collective interest, the importance of artists finding ways to engage with the critical issues of this time, which created the trust and context for this album.
