The follow up, Electromagnetic Dust, was released in August 2022 and slipped a bit under the radar for most reviewers and blogs but garnered a lot of radio attention being played across the world. Now, Jim Branstetter, the mind behind the compositions, introduces us to the vastness of apocalyptic sci-fi soundscapes and brittle atmospheres once again proving that Concussed is a project worth hearing.
As such, Concussed‘s latest release on Somewherecold Records is a journey through dark atmospheric soundscapes. Pulling inspiration from the visionary works of William Gibson, Philip K. Dick, and James S.A. Corey, the fusion of Cyberpunk, Sci-Fi, and Cassette Futurism elements transport listeners to imagined near-future worlds. Using drones, tape machines, samples, and DIY electro-acoustic devices to add depth and complexity to the music, Hacktivist Satellite Transmissions invites listeners to explore and create their own narratives within the music’s framework.
