“Currents” traces two aerial routes as sound.
Shaped through improvisation, the two pieces draw on birdsong, the resonance of passing aircraft, and on-site field recordings, guided by memories and photographs from that time.
Drone tones that evoke shifting air currents blend with natural birdsong, allowing time to drift as if from a viewpoint floating through the sky, slowly changing altitude.
The real flight paths and the inner landscapes held within the recorder overlap, and the subtle discrepancies between them are quietly inscribed on the surface of the sound. Out now on Static Disc.
