The ‘Millbury Marsh’ project follows the story of a council estate set somewhere in the North of England. Initially humming with optimism: the sound of freshly wired homes, sodium lights flickering on, and the quiet promise of better living. The Marsh then declines throughout the 80s and is demolished in the mid 90s, like so many others. An abandoned dream of modern living.
Using electronic instruments based on 1930s experimental designs, salvaged components and archival sounds, the Electricity Board rekindles a sense of post-war optimism. No DAW, no computer. Just current, interference patterns, dust and memory.
Recorded live at the Watershed Cinema, Bristol, UK.
