“Seedhead” by Avi Engel (they/them) is a slow-burning song cycle that is part ecological threnody and part spiritual meditation. At the core of Engel’s folk-infused art songs are their voice and four-string electric guitar, joined by a tenebrous chorus of birdsong, frogsong, cello, lap steel, french horn, and bass clarinet. Musical guests include Lori Goldston (Nirvana, Earth), Jeff Bird (Cowboy Junkies), and Naomi McCarroll-Butler (Beverly Glenn-Copeland). Out now on Cruel Nature Records.
