Slick’s fourth EP marks a departure from the lo-fidelity cassette recordings which defined the band’s early output. With the lineup settled on the trio of Nate Opperman, Ian Kawetschanky, and Samantha Lavin the band spent the summer of 2026 recording. The result of these sessions are compiled into ‘Beauty, Grace, Disgrace’, a 7-track EP which sees Slick exploring the possibilities of 21st-century recording and production. Many of the songs on this tape have been released as demos or lo-fidelity versions (Tourniquet, Fire Extinguisher), but with this new tape the energy of a Slick live set is uninhibited by layers of tape hiss. The lo-fidelity ethos remains with Commuter, a meditation on the hypocrisy of liberalism and the closing track, a hissy ambient piano and guitar piece. BGD is the most ambitious release from the band yet.
