‘THE SKY IS A WONDROUS BEING I AM LUCKY TO BE INSIDE’ is the third studio album from New Orleans-based genre bending artist Laura Fisher. It was made in part by a generous grant from Church of Noise. Following 2023’s ‘IN NAME ONLY, FOR IT IS NEITHER’ as well as the ‘Rose-Coloured Dream’ EP, this release is a natural blending of both sonic worlds consisting of dream/synth pop and micro chamber exploration. Written between 2021-2023, ‘THE SKY’ began as an anti-record: with the unusual creative process for “Trial & the wishing gun” intending to be a one-off experiment accidentally paving the way. From a nearly Shakespearean exchange of digital letters with a mysterious mushroom forager on Tinder (“Indigo.not indigo”) to the processing of a local community stalwart’s passing (“Rose Leaving”) to the annual grief of Mardi Gras’ conclusion (“Half the Moon and Stars”), ‘THE SKY’ is a tender yet empowered tour de force of life deeply lived. It is Fisher’s second release with Cruel Nature Records following ‘Celestina’ (2025) and is a co-release with her U.S. label Strange Daisy Records.
