Realized in the lush terra firma of New Zealand’s Kenepuru Sound, Conrad Wedde (rhymes with teddy) returns with a delicate suite of acoustic revelations strung together here as ‘Green Trees’; his first outing since the stellar kosmische of his 2014 Space World album on the great Field Hymns label.
To our delight we find that Conrad has been going kinetic with fellow bandmates in the alternative outfit, The Phoenix Foundation – a group of which he is a founding member. What’s more, is his work composing scores in film & television for longer than a decade now. His ethos in working with the motion picture has translated well into this new offering. Recorded mostly outside, Green Trees becomes a celebratory experience performed in natural light amongst flora & fauna, air moving all around. Every strum and every chord twang is a testament to this. The natural occurrence of bird chirps, waterfalls, rain drops, and wind-rustled leaves is vital to this recording. Sonic, guided, and true to it’s aim, the musician imparts heart from the countryside and gives us a beautiful album, just as beautiful as the creation is before him. Out now on Become Eternal.
